Brendon Mills

CEO, President, Managing Partner

Brendon Mills, CEO

For more than 25 years, Mr. Mills has served as a serial entrepreneur, investor, and CEO in the communications and web-based technology market. Mr. Mills has been involved in multiple venture-backed technology start-ups, Fortune 500 companies, and private equity investment and portfolio companies during his career.

Mr. Mills founded venture-backed GENBAND (General Bandwidth, Inc.) in 1999 and led the company as CEO, President until 2005. During his tenure at GENBAND, Mr. Mills secured financing venture capital funding from Sevin Rosen, Sequoia Capital, Venrock, and Invesco, and through a successful partnership with Alcatel, won a significant part of the SBC Communications APON, VOIP (Project Light speed) contract in 2004. In 2006, Mr. Mills founded Rip Code, Inc., a video technology company based in Dallas and Austin, Texas that focused on the deployment of mobile, three-screen video trans coding and delivery. In 2010, Rip Code merged with RGB Networks, a Klein Perkins and Accelerate backed video technology company based in Sunnyvale, California. Mr. Mills has held previous positions with ATEME, S.A., RGB Networks, Cisco Systems through its acquisition of NetSpeed in 1998, Dell Computers and NetWorth, Inc.

Mr. Mills also serves as Managing Partner of Vspeed Capital, LLC. Mr. Mills has 12 US technology patents and holds a B.A. degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.

Brian Alton

Chief Financial Officer, Managing Partner

Brian Alton, CFO & Managing Partner

Brian Alton has more than 30 years of successful financial and operational leadership experience with entrepreneurial technology firms, including start-ups, high-growth and turn-around companies. He has initiated and completed over $90M in VC and private equity financings; multiple acquisitions and divestitures; and identified, negotiated, and closed numerous strategic alliances.

Prior to Fortress Solutions, Mr. Alton was the CFO for SensorLogic, a cloud-based service delivery platform to support the development and deployment of M2M (machine-to-machine) applications that was sold to Gemalto. Previously, Mr. Alton was CFO of Rip Code, a leader in transactional video transcoding which was successfully sold to RGB Networks. In addition, Brian served as a CFO consultant for multiple venture-backed start-ups, including Ignite Technologies and Tango Networks, and was the CFO of Cyneta Networks, a wireless data infrastructure company that was sold to Inet Technologies (now Tektronix). Prior to joining Cyneta, Alton was president of the Restaurant Solutions Group of Ez2get.com where he was responsible for the development, sales and support of several software products used by the restaurant industry. He previously was president and CEO of IntegraTRAK, Inc., a specialty telemanagement software company located in Bellevue, Washington. During his tenure there, he played a key role in achieving growth in sales and operating profits that led to the successful sale of the company. He has also been a commercial loan officer with First Interstate Bank of Oregon and the CFO for Brightwood Corporation, a large wood products manufacturing company in central Oregon. Mr. Alton also serves as a Managing Partner of Vspeed Capital, LLC.

Josh Orender

Chief Technology Officer

Josh Orender, CTO

Josh Orender is the Chief Technology Officer for Fortress Solutions and has served in this capacity since 2008. With more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Orender has extensive knowledge of supply chain economics and telecommunication service activation and support.

Prior to joining Fortress Solutions, Mr Orender held leadership positions at several leading service providers including Williams Communications, WilTel, Level 3, Citynet, and Zayo Bandwidth. Mr. Orender has led cross functional teams to facilitate successful post-merger integrations and has been recognized for continued success in strategic analysis of product portfolios and development of support programs for diverse customer bases including enterprise, utilities, manufacturers and dervice providers.

Mr. Orender is an active member of the Plano Business Alliance, Texas Telephone association, Global Telecommunication Carriers Association, and the CEO & C-Level Executive Network. Mr. Orender holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Communications from Oklahoma State University.

Dan Walsh

Chief Operating Officer

Dan Walsh, COO

Dan Walsh is the Chief Operating Officer of Fortress Solutions. Dan oversees the daily operation of the company’s business units including Hardware Repair, Logistics, Customer Support Services, and Sales Operations. Dan is a 27-year technology industry senior management veteran, primarily based in Silicon Valley where he has led several technical and business areas within numerous large and small technology companies including software engineering, product management operations, and customer service. Dan joined Fortress Solutions from RGB Networks where he served as the Vice President, Customer Services. Dan had joined RGB through the acquisition of Rip Code, Inc. where he served as Vice President of Operations and was responsible for the company’s manufacturing, customer support, professional services and information technology. Driven by his commitment to success, Walsh leads Fortress Solutions business operations with customer-focused innovation, delivering unmatched dedication to serving the needs of the Fortress Solutions rapidly growing customer base.

Prior to Rip Code, Walsh was Vice President of Operations for Linux Networx, with responsibility for product management, manufacturing, quality and information technology. Before joining Linux Networx, Walsh held the position of Vice President of Solution Management for Advanced Data Exchange, where he led the company’s product management, engineering, customer service and network operations teams. He has also served as Vice President of Operations and Professional Services at E-Stamp and held technology management positions at Visa International and Kraft Foods.

Walsh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Technology and Operations from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Jack Brickey

Vice President of Engineering

Jack Brickey, VP of Engineering

Jack Brickey has more than 30 years experience leading engineering organizations for the telecommunications and data communications markets. Mr. Brickey has worked with large corporations as well as a number of successful start-ups. Jack’s extensive experience in leading product development, transforming teams to agile practices and introducing streamlined processes are well aligned with Fortress Solutions’ growth plans making him an ideal candidate for running the company’s engineering efforts.

Prior to joining Fortress Solutions, Jack was VP Engineering at Imagine Communications having joined through the acquisition of RGB Networks where he was the VP of Engineering overseeing operations in Silicon Valley and Austin, TX. At these companies Jack oversaw all aspects of product development for leading technologies aimed at delivering video to the multi-screen market. In addition to these recent positions, Jack was the EVP of Engineering at Rip Code and VP Engineering at GENBAND. With more than 15 years of executive leadership, Jack has demonstrated his ability to build and retain high performing teams to deliver innovative technologies.

Joe Uhr

Senior Vice President of Operations – Repair Services

Joe Uhr, SVP of Operations and Repair Services

Prior to joining Fortress Solutions, Mr. Uhr held various leadership roles within the OEM and contract manufacturing industries. As an initial employee at GENBAND, Mr. Uhr led the dual supplier strategy for the company, which included qualifying and managing all contract manufacturing, printed circuit board suppliers and fabricated sheet metal suppliers. More recently, Mr. Uhr led GENBAND’s Corporate Quality Systems Group. Prior to GENBAND, Mr. Uhr held Supplier Management and Quality Management roles at Tyco Electronics and AMP Packaging Systems, suppliers of mid plane and chassis enclosures to OEMs in multiple markets.

Mr. Uhr has been an active member of the QuEST Forum, helping shape the future of the TL 9000 Quality Management System requirements and measurements handbooks.

Laura Sapp

VP & General Manager, Florida Operations

Laura Sapp, VP & General Manager, Florida Operations

Laura Sapp is Vice President & General Manager, with oversight of the Leesburg, FL repair facility and the Lenexa, KS logistics center. Ms. Sapp joined Fortress Solutions as Human Resources Director through its acquisition of Restor Telecom in 2015, where she had been managing the Human Resources function for the previous five years.

During her time at Fortress Solutions, Ms. Sapp has created strategy, policies and communications for vital programs as well as aligned resources to meet productivity and revenue targets while maintaining customer commitment levels. She has been key in the retention of a high-performing workforce via employee engagement, human capital initiatives and career path development.

Prior to accepting her current role, Ms. Sapp held a 22+ year career in the Human Resources field, bringing experience in both generalist and specialist roles from start-up companies to Fortune 50 corporations and across industries that include staffing, manufacturing, healthcare, and technology.

Ms. Sapp earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Southwestern University.

Grant Davis

Vice President, Strategic Account Development

Grant Davis, VP of Strategic Account Development

Grant Davis is the Vice President of Strategic Account Development. Prior to Fortress Solutions, Mr. Davis served as Executive VP of Development for Restor Telecom Inc before Restor was acquired by Fortress Solutions. Grant Davis has 30 years of telecommunication experience in Sales and Marketing of CDMA/TDMA/GSM/IDEN, subscriber equipment and accessories, semiconductor components, infrastructure to wireless service providers and OEMs. He brings to Fortress Solutions a strong background of senior relationships with key decision makers within the communications industry and has a proven track record of success to identify and grow a new customer base and/or opportunities. Mr. Davis is a graduate of Arizona State University.

Stella King

Vice President, Sales

Vice President, Sales

Stella King serves as Vice President of Sales at Fortress Solutions.  Mrs. King has over 25 years of experience in sales management, specializing in service provider accounts and new business development.   At Fortress Solutions, Mrs. King oversees AT&T, Verizon and UAV / drone business development.  Stella started her career in telecommunications services at Somera Communications, after a successful career as General Manager at Reed Elsevier, now known as RELX Group.  RELX Group is a public multinational information and analytics company based in London.  Before joining Fortress Solutions, Mrs. King also held senior sales positions with Communications Test Design Inc. (CTDI) and Telmar Technology.

Mrs. King is originally from Hong Kong and has worked and lived in Singapore, Boston and Silicon Valley.  Mrs. King now resides in Texas with her husband Don and son Donald. When she isn’t traveling for work, Mrs. King spends time swimming, learning foreign cultures and trying very hard not to be the worst driver in Texas.  She received her BS in Marketing from San Jose University in California, and MBA from University of Dubuque.
